The Director of the Interactive Media Department., Ellen Avignone, began her career in media with a public relations/marketing background, and worked as an Assistant Director for the Educational Services and Marketing Divisions of the Gannett Corporation's New Jersey Newspaper Association. With the introduction of the Internet to the business world, Ellen attended Scranton University's Internet Technology Program to obtain the skills to launch the newspaper's online presence in 1994.  Ellen was co-creator of the commercial web services division, before coming to the Sentinel in 1998.  She has a BA in Communications Media and has been certified in web design and Internet Marketing and Technologies from both Monmouth University in New Jersey and Scranton University in Pennsylvania. Ellen has been a speaker on the topics of Practical Internet Business Solutions for the New Jersey REALTOR's Association Conference and most recently for the New England Press Association.  Since  2004, Ellen has been one of only ten New Media professionals chosen nationwide to receive a fellowship from the Newspaper Association of America as part of the NAA's Future Leaders Program Ellen continues her work with the NAA as a Mentor to other Interactive Media professionals nationwide. Ellen continues her work as a consultant and speaker for the NAA as well as several regional organizations and businesses.
